Deafness Foundation Grant

The General Practitioner (GP) is often the first point of contact for people seeking advice or referral for their hearing concerns. However, research indicates that hearing screening is rarely performed by GPs and if hearing-related concerns are raised by patients, they are often unaddressed.

This project aims to develop a mechanism that provides both GP and patient with support in attaining appropriate hearing healthcare. The tool we develop will (1) improve the help-seeking behaviours of patients in the GP waiting room; and (2) provide GPs with a mechanism to address hearing concerns more confidently and refer appropriately.
