Soundfair is undertaking a research project to test the feasibility, usability and utility of developing an outcome ‘dashboard’ that routinely tracks person-centred care experiences alongside other success measures.
Tinnitus during the pandemic
Soundfair’s Tinnitus Australia initiative has seen a huge increase in the demand for advice – via our social media accounts and telephone line – during the pandemic. The anxiety and disruption associated with lockdowns, increased isolation and lack of accessible support combine to mean that tinnitus has been especially distressing for people.
Royal Commission Defence and Veteran Suicide
Soundfair is advocating for better understanding of the social and emotional impacts of hearing conditions, which can include increased isolation, significant mental health issues and suicide.

July’s Yarn Night spotlights four writers who have published stories based on their own experiences of living with a hearing condition.
VICTORIANS WITH HEARING CONDITIONS: DOING IT TOUGH IN LOCKDOWN #4
Across Victoria, the current restrictions are having a disproportionately negative impact on people living with a hearing condition. Senior Victorians in aged care are particularly at risk of increased experiences of isolation and a lack of connection, given the current restrictions. Lack of support for good communication practices increase the risk of those experiences jeopardising their mental health.
Hearing health in the Federal Budget
Soundfair welcomes the funding commitments for hearing health in the 2021 Federal Budget.
