Vale Leonie Jackson

The team at Soundfair were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Leonie Jackson. As an advocate, trailblazer and visionary, Leonie devoted her professional life to advancing Deaf education and creating opportunities for community development.

As CEO of the Deaf Society, the first Deaf person to hold the role, Leonie was an inspirational leader who combined strategic smarts and the ability to understand practical implementation. In 2020, she helped shepherd the merger between Deaf Services and the Deaf Society and accepted the role of Executive Manager, Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships in the newly formed organisation.

She will be sorely missed by everyone in the Deaf community as well as everyone involved in the Australian disability sector.

Leonie was a devoted and beloved mother to her two young sons. Our thoughts are with her friends and family.
